As part of Wildlands, the Wild Series aims to raise funds for conservation projects by taking endurance athletes through some of the most breath-taking, wild locations across South Africa.
A gruelling 55km mountain bike challenge through the Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Game Reserve, home of the Big Five and African Wild Dog.
A Wildlands initiative, the Wild Series was established to profile South Africa’s spectacular natural heritage while raising funds for key conservation projects. These events provide participants with the opportunity of running or mountain biking through some of our most beautiful, wildness location and have raised millions for conservation in the process. From protecting the African Wild Dog and the Bearded Vulture to incredible adventures through awe-inspiring landscapes – the Wild Series challenges are about more than just sports.
Wildlands has partnered with the Old Mutual Foundation for many years in championing a cleaner, greener environment and a sustainable future for all. Recently, this partnership was taken a step further when Old Mutual was announced as the proud new title sponsor of the Wild Series. “Old Mutual has always believed in partnerships that support a worthy cause and Wildlands’ initiatives are dedicated to giving back to conservation, protecting our heritage and securing our future.”
Over the years the Old Mutual Wild Series team have often received requests from athletes to run in ONE DAY of our multi day challenges. In an effort to expose runners to the Wild Series we’re opening up a limited number of places in each of our stage trail races (Three Cranes Challenge, Kruger2Canyon Challenge and Golden Gate Challenge) to those who feel they are not able to take on the full event.
